Matilda Bookshop Review

‘In the year of our Lord 1894, I became an outlaw.’ What a first line! I was hooked right from the beginning . Anna Norths Outlawed is an alternate history set in the late 1800s and is the story of Ada, an apprentice midwife who cannot conceive a child. Sadly, Ada lives in a town where barren women are hanged as witches, so she runs away and joins the notorious Hole in the Wall Gang. Run by The Kid, the gang is trying to provide a safe place for outcast women. I loved this memorable, fast-paced, feminist western and highly recommend it. Jo
