DescriptionINTRODUCTION I want to celebrate here that beautiful person who walked up to me in the supermarket, just thirteen years ago, talked to my inarticulate and deeply disturbed four year old, and then put her hand gently on his throat. He became a normal little boy again. And I began a new friendship and a new life. It is two years since Joni’s death. Many people have contacted the Compassion Coallition asking for more information about her life. This book is a response to these requests. We have very little first hand material; some poems and a prose fragment she wrote in her teens, a transcript of one of her public meetings, a few pages from her diary and of course the now famous record of her last message. These are all included. For the rest we must rely on accounts from those who knew her best at various times of her life, who shared her life’s journey, and were changed through that sharing: Her parents and school friends. Her professional and work colleagues. Her guru Khrisma. And the political figures, from Terrorist to President, whom she healed and befriended. We hope you may imbibe some of Joni’s remarkable human spirit through these accounts. and thus transcent the two dimensional media hype and some of the emerging mythology and cultishness that is threatening to drown her message in her celebrity. One reader concluded, ‘Don’t just read this novel. Allow yourself to go on a journey, be enchanted, rekindle your optimism.’ Renata Cassini Compassion Coalition, August 2034 |
