Alison
Author(s): Lizzy Stewart
A visually stunning and beautifully written debut graphic novel of love, life and art.
Matilda Bookshop Review
Reminiscent of Alison Bechdel’s Fun Home (albeit fictional), this adult graphic novel tackles art, love, sex, and identity in interesting ways. The central character, Alison, leaves a safe and comfortable marriage for the allure of an older artist and all he might teach. This starts a chain of events which Alison never predicted - a tangled relationship, a deep friendship with another artist, and a winding journey of self discovery become the defining factors of Alison’s life. I picked Alison up on a whim and ended up flying through it in one sitting - I couldn’t put it down! Even (and maybe especially) if you don’t usually read graphic texts, I recommend Alison. Marina
