Description

More than thirty years ago, singer Olivia Newton-John danced and sang her way through Grease, the most successful movie musical of all time. With a career spanning more than four decades with over 100 million albums sold, Olivia's successes include four Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, countless music awards, ten Number One hits, and over fifteen top ten singles, as well as numerous television and film roles.A breast cancer "thriver" for twenty years, she is still the picture of health and well-being. If you were wondering how she manages to look so good, wonder no more. The secret of Olivia's success is no secret at all: She exercises daily and eats a simple diet based mostly on salads, vegetables, fish, chicken, and some whole grains. She firmly believes that what we eat is imperative to staying healthy and well-balanced and she shares this philosophy in her first cookbook, Livwise. The recipes are imaginative, tasty, and very healthy, from delicious salads and snacks to hearty main dishes and guilt-free desserts. Olivia is donating all her profits from this book to her Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.

Author description

Olivia Newton-John was born in England and grew up in Australia, where she joined a short-lived girl band and began performing on local television and radio shows. She sang in various musical groups throughout Australia and England in the 1960s and 70s, and released her first solo album in 1971. Her work didn't take off in the States until the mid-1970s, and in 1978 she achieved widespread success after co-starring with John Travolta in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Grease. She released several more solo albums, and by the early 1990s she had planned a tour to revive her singing career; however, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992 and required to cancel all publicity for her hits collection, including the tour. The disease gave her a new direction in life; as a breast cancer survivor (or cancer thriver, as she prefers to say), Olivia is raising funds for The Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Center in Melbourne, Australia. She has continued producing albums chronicling her journey, and her interest in health and humanitarian issues has grown since her diagnosis. The royalties from the sale of this book will go to her Cancer and Wellness Center.
