Product Information

"'Great beasts being thrashed to within microns of their cylinder heads. Great book, Nick! Can I come next time?' Damon Hill"

Nick Mason inherited his life-long interest in motor sport from his father, the documentary film-maker Bill Mason. When Pink Floyd commitments allow, Nick is able to swap the drumming stool for the driver's seat, and has raced regularly for over 30 years, including competing in five Le Mans races. He is also the author of Inside Out: A Personal History of Pink Floyd. Mark Hales is a professional motor journalist with over 30 years' experience of racing and testing virtually every type of racing car, and has driven most of the world's fastest road cars on track and road. He writes for a range of print and online publications including Octane, Evo, Classic & Sports Car, Top Gear Magazine, Autosport, the Daily Telegraph and the official Ferrari magazine.

First published in 1998, a revised edition of Passion For Speed was produced in 2004 to include Nick's phenomenal 240mph racing McLaren F1 GTR, and this new edition of the book features two more new cars. First is the mighty Ferrari Enzo, less than 400 of which were ever made, with all of the original production run being snapped up before a finished car was ever built. Nick's car, driven by 'The Stig' held BBC TV's Top Gear lap record. The other new car is Nick's Alfa Romeo TZ1 dating from 1964.
