She grew up in the California countryside, where she yearned with all her heart to have a horse of her own. Upon realizing this was an impossibility, she contented herself with reading about girls who did. Christina now lives in Seattle, with her daughter and husband, where she, along with family members, runs the Laughing Elephant publishing company.
